About Workshop

This workshop is to provide hands-on training to library professionals by providing adequate practical knowledge which will enable to develop digital repositories of library materials and develop website/blog on their own by using DSpace and Wordpress respectively. The workshop also aims to provide basic knowledge and skills to participants in customizing DSpace as per local requirements.

About DSpace and Wordpress

DSpace is a digital repository system (alternatively Institutional Repositories / Learning Object Repositories, which is used to captures, stores, indexes, preserves and redistributes an organization’s research material in digital formats. It is free and easy to install and completely customizable to fit the needs of any organization. DSpace preserves and enables easy and open access to all types of digital content including text, images, moving images, mpegs and data sets.

WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. WordPress can be used in two ways; either is installed on a web server, is part of an Internet hosting service or is a network host itself. The first case may be on a service like WordPress.com, and the second case is a computer running the software package in a local computer configured to act as its own web server hosting Wordpress for single-user testing or learning purposes.
